HF Motion’s pump motor controllers cover applications in many fields such as swimming pools, agricultural irrigation, aquaculture, and household water. All of them can use the hybrid mode of solar energy and AC to help various fields reduce power consumption costs and carbon emission.
However, given the current price of solar power generation systems and the efficiency, the use of normal solar power system is not a very cost-effective solution in some fields .
As we know, the electricity generated by solar energy is unstable due to the sunlight conditions, and it must be stored in batteries before it can be used to drive motors. When used in parallel with the grid, an inverter must be added, which greatly increases the cost of the devices. If this solution is used for distributed solar power generation, it is not cost-effective.

E-Hybrid Solar Tech for Pumping Applications:
The key feature of HF Motion’s E-Hybrid Solar Tech is the improvement of efficiency, both the operating efficiency of the motor or the utilization rate of solar power generation. From which the advent of solar and AC hybrid solutions has greatly improved the utilization rate of solar energy without energy storage. The hybrid solution does not need to buy an additional inverter or use a battery, which has great cost advantages.
For difference of application power and price sensitivity of the end products, we have different solutions to choose from.
For applications above 1KW, our solution is the complementary output of solar and AC power, which includes parallel mode and switching mode.

Parallel mode: 

Solar/AC/battery can output and drive the motor at the same time, and the controller will automatically adjust the output ratio from 0 to 100% seamlessly and linearly.

  • When the sunlight conditions meet the operating power of the motor, only solar energy is directly output to the motor.
  • When the sunlight conditions are not ideal, it will be supplemented by the battery or AC power, and the controller will monitor and adjust them according to the real-time solar power generation.
  • When there is no sunlight condition at night or in other circumstances, all outputs are provided by batteries or AC power.

Switching mode: 

Solar/battery/grid three output sources, only a single output at the same time. It can be switched manually, or monitored and evaluated by the controller. When the solar power cannot meet the motor operation, it will automatically switch to AC output.

For applications below 0.75KW, to reduce the overall product cost after matching with the application, we can provide the switching solution, the controller monitors the real-time solar power generation, and when the solar power meets the motor operation power, only the solar power output to the motor, when the solar power is insufficient, it will automatically switch to AC power.
In the case of multiple water pumps running independently, each pump has an independent control unit, each unit has solar and AC power input, and equipped with a distributed solar power system that includes solar panel, MPPT controller, optional battery.

Whether it is an area with rising energy prices or with electricity shortage, or an area that cannot be covered by the grid, the hybrid output of solar energy and AC can meet the basic electricity demand for these areas and reduce electricity costs.
Especially in areas with scarce water resources, generally accompanied by hot and dry conditions, with abundant solar energy resources, it can solve the problems of energy consumption in water resource acquisition and transmission, and can meet the needs of basic agricultural irrigation and household water.
When the power generated by solar is always greater than the motor power, the battery can be used to replenish energy at night to further improve the utilization rate of solar energy.
