HF Motion participated in Febrava 2023 São Paulo

Febrava 2023 is mainly about refrigeration and ventilation-related industries and supply chains. It was held at the Sao Paulo Expo, Brazil from September 12 to 15, 2023. The exhibition hall covers an area of 40,000 square meters, 348 exhibitors, and 26,800 visitors. Judging from the number of visitors and feedback from exhibitors, the exhibition was very successful and the exhibitors also gained a lot.

The main industry types of exhibitors include HVAC, duct systems, air purification systems, refrigeration supply chains, centrifugal fans, axial fans, air coolers, motors, etc. In addition to the above-mentioned companies, visitors also include service providers in specific industries, such as air conditioning system installation service providers.

HF Motion participated in the exhibition as an exhibitor, booth number I120. At this exhibition, HF Motions launched solutions for BLDC motors and controllers in more application fields, as well as unique E-Hybrid technology, which enables parallel and complementary output of solar energy with AC power and batteries to drive motors, which is more efficient than ordinary solar applications. Efficient and energy-saving, and with stable output.

During the exhibition, HF Motion’s exhibitors had in-depth and extensive exchanges with visitors and other exhibitors, learned more about industry trends, manufacturer needs, user needs, etc.

As a large industry category, ventilation equipment is used in many very subdivided fields, such as building ventilation, workshop ventilation, workshop cooling, breeding ventilation, industrial cooling and other applications. The application environments in each field are different, and the requirements for equipment are also different. Manufacturers need to consider various factors such as the ambient temperature of equipment operation, operating time, operating load, wind pressure, air volume, energy consumption, control convenience, etc., to develop competitive products in various fields.

Current Situation of the Industry

After the Covid-19 is almost over, the economies of the countries have begun to recover. Driven by user needs and self-technological updates, various industries are changing rapidly and innovating. Technical innovation in the ventilation industry is mainly reflected in motor technology, more and motor EC Fans instead of the AC fans, which require the BLDC motors and controllers to replace traditional AC induction motors. And in some areas without electricity, it is very necessary to use solar energy to drive motors, which has promoted the trend of off-grid application of solar + BLDC motors for fans.

Advantages of the Solution

  1. The starting current of the BLDC motor is very small and can be started directly through the controller. The motor can be directly connected to the fan shaft to avoid power loss caused by belt or gearbox, and the startup will not cause impact on the fan blades;
  2. The BLDC motor controller has various control and display functions, such as stepless speed regulation, setting time periods to run at different speeds, automatically adjusting the speed according to external temperature, etc., without manual intervention;
  3. The BLDC motor controller can be connected to more external controls or sensors to achieve more automation functions;
  4. Fans equipped with BLDC motors save 30 to 50% more energy than traditional AC motor fans. When running for a long time, the electricity bill saved can cover the price difference with AC induction motors in just one month. Considering the long-term energy costs, this is a good investment.

BLDC Motor Combined with E-Hybrid Solar Technology

Solar power output priority and excess power will charge the battery. The battery output as supplement, so that the ventilation can obtain stable power input in areas without electricity. Solar energy is output directly most of the time, without passing through the battery, the battery life is extended. No inverter loss, improving energy utilization.

In places where the power is stable, the AC power is only used as a backup, and solar power output priority, excess power charge the battery, battery output is used as a supplement. The battery output can be used at night to maximize the energy-saving effect.

Case Study

There is an exhibitor at the exhibition, the main product is axial flow fans, some of which are used in areas without electricity. The current solution of them is solar power + battery + inverter + AC induction motor. The owner understands that inverters will have power losses, but it is difficult to find corresponding simple solutions on the market.

After learning about HF Motion’s solar + BLDC motor solution, the owner said that he was very lucky. He happened to meet us when he couldn’t find it everywhere, and we were able to solve all his pain points.

In response to his current situation and needs, HF Motion will use an E-Hybrid power supply unit to supply energy to the BLDC motor, solar and battery parallel & complementary input, and DC output to the controller to reduce losses. By running at low speed instead of starting and stopping during certain periods, energy savings of up to 50% can be achieved.

Conclusion

With the continuous implementation of policies to control carbon dioxide emissions in the countries and the continuous expansion of the scale of solar energy applications, the development trend of the ventilation industry will continue to move closer to energy conservation and emission reduction. More ventilation brands will carry out motor technology innovation and introduce solar power applications.
